Embracing Darkness is a group rooted in feminine community and shared presence. We come together to spend time in nature, to be in the night, and to be with ourselves and each other. We meet outdoors, between Spring and Fall at night in different natural places around Whatcom County. Each gathering takes place in a different location, meeting everywhere from Semiahmoo to Squires Lake, Teddy Bear Cove to local parks and wooded areas. We let the land, the weather, lunar cycle and the darkness shape the evening.

Each gathering is hosted by a different volunteer. The host may offer a prompt or something to sit with, but there is no fixed structure. Some people write. Some talk. Some listen. Some simply sit in the dark. All of that is welcome.

We meet rain or shine. Dress for the weather. Locations are shared after RSVP for safety and accessibility planning, and a minimum number of attendees is required since we gather after dark. Please reach out if you have accessibility considerations or travel accommodations we can assist with.
